History of the Alexandria Corniche
Work on the Corniche began in 1925 in the construction of the first stage in the region between the chain and Shatby with a distance of 786 m, and this was followed by the establishment of the second stage in the region from Shatby to Camp Caesar, then the third stage between Camp Caesar and even Sporting, then the fourth stage in the region from the Delta Street in the past until Port Said Street in Cleopatra, however, when the fifth stage of the Corniche was established, which passes through the Mustafa Pasha area where the British occupation forces camp there, at that time these forces obstructed work at this stage of the Corniche, but with the victory of the Egyptian Executive Authority, it was in 1931 The completion of this stage in the region from Cleopatra to Stanley. During this stage, Stanley Bay was prepared for bathing, and all contractors (Dentamaru) and (Kartaregba) were assigned to work, and work was completed in 1932.
As for the last (sixth) stage, it started from Stanley to the walls of the Western Montazah Palace, thus completing the Corniche from the beginning of work until 1934 and with a length of 20 km between the palaces of Ras Al-Teen in the west and Al-Montazah in the east, and some beaches carried European names such as Camp Caesar and Stanley and Glim and Zezenia.
It was the first to set up a house on the Corniche, the state of Hussein Pasha Sari in the area of Sidi Bishr, and was famous for the presence of a painted minister in a brown color with the entrance hall.
