This suburb experienced important historical events for the Ptolemaic kings. In the 19th century it belonged to one of the wealthy Greeks and was known by its name "Gardener Gardens" until it belonged to Mohammed Ali Pasha and founded a palace for it. In 1860 AD Khedive Ismail instructed French artist "Paul Richard" to recreate the gardens as a miniature form of Versailles palace gardens in Paris.
Khedive Ismail was visiting France and the gardens were about 50 acres but the area of the gardens as a result of the extensions ordered by Khedive Ismail at the Smouha Club site today, a large number of trees and plants were added to the garden because Khedive Ismail also had a passion for bird hunting, palace ownership moved the gardens to one pole Greek, Baroness John Antoniadis 1860, who later named the gardens to his name, Antoniadis stayed in the palace for some years, and when he died in 1895 he inherited his son who carried out their father's mandate. palace and gardens in the municipality of Alexandria in the year 1918.
In the garden there is a separate group of rare marble statues of legendary and historical characters.
