The Al Nabi Daniel Mosque
The mosque was named after Sheikh Mohammed Daniel Al Mousli, one of the Shiite scholars of the Shafi school. He arrived in Alexandria at the end of the 8th century AD and took from Alexandria a base to teach the basic principles of religion and theology against Imam al-Safi until his death in 810 AD.
the Prophet Daniel Mosque was built in Alexandria in 1790 AD, at a time when Alexandria contained only two neighborhoods, the Ras el-Teen and the Customs House. The rest of Alexandria was a desert of sand with lush green farms or huge lakes.
The mosque is considered one of the oldest mosques in Egypt and its walls are decorated with ancient Islamic decorative elements and are a sanctuary for many tourists, especially Asians, who wish to visit its sacred tomb beneath the mosque. The Mosque of Prophet Daniel is located on the street known by its name.
