The Jesuit Cultural Center
It was founded in 1953 by the Jesuits' fathers, who are a Christian denomination of the Catholic Church who settled in Egypt between 1880-1890 AD. and are interested in education and schooling, colleges and cultural activities. The Center is an independent non-profit,
is an independent nonprofit foundation founded by the Jesuits in 1954. Its main purpose is the human formation of those (especially the young) who are willing to contribute positively to the human development of society with all the challenges of modern culture.
As such, the Center offers a wide-ranging training program with artistic, spiritual, and cultural leadership training activities that address the balanced development of the entire human person. This program promotes the values of beauty, responsibility for citizenship, equality, peace and justice without any religious, social, political or gender segregation.
It consists of a large church and a library that includes Arabic and foreign books, including rare books, as well as a theater connected to the center to showcase artists from around the world and cinemas as well as the classroom and back garden of the center. where the cultural center is located on the church and monastery campus of the Jesuits monks. The Jesuits Church is considered one of the oldest churches in Alexandria.
The back garden, which consists of a large corridor with arcades and at the end of a prominent slab of Virgin Mary, is a replica of that church but in a smaller form and the garden contains the most beautiful and rare flowers.
